“This photograph was taken in Khutze inlet on the central coast and in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. The inlet is one of my favorites. We had left the Island Roamer sailboat in the pre-dawn and quietly slipped by zodiac into a quiet backwater eddy on the northern side of the inlet. We waited for several hours in the hopes of seeing a bear. As the blue grey dawn gave way, the first rays of the sun peaked over the valley walls and started to illuminate the mist laden trees. As the male grizzly bear wandered into the frame I was thrilled because it completed the image. This picture for me represents the very essence of the Great Bear Rainforest.”
