This image is the cover shot for our annual report – in memoriam, Scarlet, J50.

As we now hear news of the imperilled state of other Southern Residents – her family – it’s a reminder that this year will require efforts that shift the dial on recovery – we have to move beyond simply holding the line.

For Raincoast this means continuing our efforts to compel the Canadian federal government to implement threat reduction measures including: Chinook fishery closures, restrictions on whale watching on Southern Residents, establishing refuges, and implementing noise reduction targets with our conservation partners.

We also have a new documentary film in development and will be initiating a bold salmon habitat restoration project on the Fraser River estuary.
