Future forests: land protection in island Coastal Douglas-fir habitats
Watch our webinar recording from December, featuring Josephine Henry, a W̱SÁNEĆ community member and SENĆOŦEN Language Revitalization Student, and Dr. Erin O’Brien, avian biologist with Pender Islands Conservancy.
On December 16th Raincoast Conservation Foundation and the Pender Islands Conservancy hosted a webinar to educate the public about our joint conservation initiative: the preservation and protection of S,DÁYES Flycatcher Forest, 13 acres of rare and endangered Coastal Douglas-fir habitats on North Pender Island.
The webinar was facilitated by me, Shauna Doll. I’m Raincoast’s Gulf Islands Forest Project Coordinator. It was my pleasure to facilitate this discussion with Josephine Henry, a W̱SÁNEĆ community member and SENĆOŦEN Language Revitalization Student, and Dr. Erin O’Brien, avian biologist with Pender Islands Conservancy.
Check out the webinar recording to learn more about Coastal Douglas-fir forests on the Gulf Islands and why land acquisition is such an important strategy for protecting them!
