The study by Dr Chris Darimont, Dr Peter C. Paquet and Dr William J. Ripple shows that although trophy hunting generates short term financial gains, the environmental benefits are often overemphasized. The removal of key species like elephants, lions and rhinos, can lead to interference in local ecosystems. For instance — lions: loss of these creatures can lead to destabilization of the herbivorous population.
