Our photography ethics policy

We strive for ethical and collaborative storytelling when interacting with people and communities.

What ethics guide your photography?

Raincoast has just published our own Photography Ethics Policy – tag your favourite photographer in the comments and let us know what you think.

The policy will guide both our acquisition and use of photography, whether for use on our website, social media platforms, printed materials or other uses. We will only use images that we feel align with our policy and we encourage others to consider our approach.

Here’s our guide in short:

We strive for ethical and collaborative storytelling when interacting with people and communities.

When working with wildlife:

  • We go prepared
  • We are passive
  • We are transparent
  • We take a precautionary approach and always attribute the photographer
